Grocery Store. "Sugar Wars". Sugar cost 65-75 cents per 5 lb bag. Bryce and a competing grocer would go in their cars to get sugar and sell it from their trunk back in Pretty Prairie! Sugar prices went up due to U.S. banning imports from Cuba following the 1959 Cuban Revolution.
